John discovered these vintage dhurries in Jaipur and was beguiled by their folksy images and eccentric designs. In villages across northern India, women have traditionally woven dhurries, flat tapestry rugs, as part of a bride’s trousseau. The rugs are practical - used as floor coverings or on the charpoy, the woven bed common in village homes - but also highly expressive, featuring unique colors and creative designs. Beyond their beauty, dhurries represent continuity in craft tradition, linking generations of women through weaving.  Even today, this craft remains a living practice in farming communities of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
  • 42" x 77"
  • 100% Cotton
  • Machine wash cold, separately, gentle cycle.
