This chair has a story. It started with the Chandigarh project in India. Nehru, the first prime minister of independent India, commissioned a modern architect to create the capital of the Punjab region, which would be known as Chandigarh. Le Corbusier was chosen as the architect for the project and he chose Pierre Jeanneret, his cousin, and friend to design the furniture for the administrative buildings and housing. Both respected Indian style and incredible craftsmanship. John found a workshop in India reproducing the Jeanneret furniture from the original drawings in teak wood, with incredible attention to details, and using Indian artisans. He sat on all of these chairs and benches and was in love. We have added block printed cushions to spice them up, and there’s a cane work seat underneath. Please note wear is consistent with vintage furniture and there might be some imperfections. We think this only adds to the charm and authenticity.

  • 29" D X 19" W X 28" H
  • Seat Height 14.5"
