John discovered these vintage dhurries in Jaipur and was beguiled by their folksy imagery and eccentric designs. Traditionally woven by women across northern India as part of a bride’s trousseau, these flat tapestry rugs were used on floors and charpoys, the woven beds common in village homes. Practical yet deeply expressive, dhurries carry generations of weaving tradition and remain a living craft in the farming communities of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. This particular dhurrie pairs a rich indigo ground with playful coral latticework and scattered starburst motifs, giving the geometric pattern a buoyant, almost architectural charm.
