Joybells Orphanage

On a flight back from Delhi, John was seated next to one of the patrons of Joybells, a school and orphanage located at the foothills of the Himalayas at Dehradun, India. The story of the place fascinated him. Horrified by the life of the region’s nomadic children, many of whom often had no access to food, much less education, Althea Joy Singh and her husband, a retired colonel, founded Joybells. The center has since grown to something much more than their original dream. In addition to shelter and education, Joybells provides healthcare and maintains a thriving garden and farm that provides most nutritional needs as well. Before morning classes, the children learn valuable skills working in the garden and spend their afternoons playing sports, making art, learning music and dance. John was eager to be a part of this magical place. Today, John Robshaw Textiles is proud to supply the school with linens, quilts, sheets and pillows, making the center as comforting and beautiful as its mission itself.
