These chairs were designed after George Nakashima, who visited the National Institute of Design campus in Ahmedabad, India in 1964. John Robshaw found these chairs in Ahmedabad. Nakashima worked with local craftsmen to produce 32 designs and detailed drawings of furniture, including this chair, and the rights to produce these designs were given to the Institute, who reproduced them over the years. We have replaced the rope cord in some of the chairs that needed repair.
